If this is your first time embarking on a Make Mondays NOT Suck (#MMNS) journey, we suggest that read this first. With that being said, let’s face it- we all know that Mondays Suck!

‘Monday’ Tweet of the Day

 

Absolutely heartbroken for the Predators players, and the city of Nashville, especially since the city won our hearts over and that we even walked those same lively strip of Broadway just a few months ago.

You used WAY too much PTO last week and battled through an absolutely miserable condition for absolutely no reason other than a a misdiagnosis of your condition. As mentioned in last week’s #MakeMondaysNOTsuck, we had mentioned going home sick to be a strategy to Make Mondays NOT Suck.

As much as we wholeheartedly believe this to be an excellent way to combat a case of the Mondays, our physical symptoms over the course of the rest of the week was definitely not worth the time away from work.

Yes, I mean to say that I would have rather been healthy last week than have been missing work so remember this:

Good Health>Missing Work

Always.

But First: Gratitude Corner

As silly as it sounds, we’re happy to be able to get back to work and finally lead a normal life again. We had a bit of some health issues and are back to normal and will never take our health for granted again (#SilverLiningsAlways)

Without going into too much detail, the past week we have been riddled with a

  • high fever
  • strong aches and pains that you would find in that of someone with advanced arthritis
  • restless nights due to waking up every few hours in cold sweats
  • being absolutely freezing at all times of the day, sometimes shivering

but luckily after the second time around, the doctors were able to pinpoint the issue and we’re working collaboratively to address it. The horizon looks promising, although after hearing the CORRECT diagnoses, my anxiety spiked to an all time high in the waiting room on Saturday. I have a lump in my throat just thinking about my perspective on life at that point in time. The ten minute freak-out caused me to put on one of my all time favorite “Calm the F Down” songs and is bench-marked by this tweet:

Scheduling an Errand During the Workday

This strategy is NOT to be confused with our infamous strategy: “Running Errands Before Work” because obviously they are two completely separate concepts.

As discussed above, some health complications have forced me to prioritize taking care of me before prioritizing my work day. This has also caused me to re-structure my Monday accordingly. For whatever reason, over the weekend, I was only given a small dose of the antibiotic that I was prescribed. I was required today to leave work in the middle of the morning.

Let’s list (T.R. We KNOW you love lists, so here’s a quick one for you)

Benefits of Errands During Workday:

  1. Anything health related as mentioned above is automatically an obvious excuse for a midday hall pass, and easy write-off to the big boss man:
    • “Yeh so I mean I was out for three whole days last week with this sickness so unless you guys let me leave to get my medication, I’m not going to get better..”
  2. It’s almost like you’re going on a late field trip at school that day
    • “What’s the plan for the day you ask? So I’m going to go to first period..then probably catch up on what happened after I left Kyle’s 10th b-day party sleepover this past weekend and then we’re getting on the bus at 9:15 to go to the Peabody Museum so it’s gonna be a pretty chill day”
  3. You’re really combining the feeling of leaving work early/coming in late into one experience because:
    • You leave at 10:15AM and don’t come back until 11:43AM – you’re basically living the best of both worlds here..
  4. You get to daydream about a job that allows you the flexibility to just drive around during the day
    • Even if it’s just for a moment, you still get to experience what it’s like to not be chained for a desk for 9 hours straight, and let me tell you, those few moments are all I needed to have me gnawing away at my handcuffs.
