Why Does This Monday Suck? (Click here to tell us why yours does!)

The Monday Morning mental block that you’ve been sporting feels almost as restrictive as the covers of your comfortable bed. You lay staring at the ceiling wrapped in a blanket burrito, switching your focus from

“Oh crap it’s Monday”  to —–> “How can I make this the BEST Monday ever?” 

In ideal world, this conscious change would solve all your woes. With that being said, we realize that it’s easier said than done. It’s too tempting to smash the snooze button for five more minutes and takes more effort than you think to propel yourself up and out of bed.

Making it to lunch will be a miracle today, but then again having to face the walk back from lunch is a WHOLE other story as the Post Lunch Monday Blues are going to rock your world.

But hey let’s look on the bright side (because that’s what we’re all about)…

 

Gratitude Corner

Let’s take a moment away from complaining about how much the “Mondays SUCK” routine and realize that underneath the surface of the initial knee-jerk reaction to dreading Monday Mornings, there are a thousands of reasons to be thankful for our current situation in life.

It is SO easy for us to become consumed by our challenges, disappointments and inconveniences. The biggest challenge we face is to breakthrough this self-induced obsession and truly see life for what it really is: A Gift.

PLEASE, treat it as such. We only get one.

Don’t take a moment for granted and adopt the attitude of gratitude. We promise, even if it doesn’t solve your problems, at least they won’t seem as big!

How to Make Mondays NOT Suck THIS WEEK

Cleaning Your Desk-Space/Work-Area

 

We were going to include a real picture of a cluttered desk but it was giving us anxiety and making us nauseous, so above we’ve included a cartoon.

 

So this week’s #MakeMondaysNOTsuck article is very similar to that time we cleaned our room and that time we decluttered and got rid of a bunch of stuff, HOWEVER this week we’re applying these concepts to the work place.

 

First let’s look at this fact:

  • 28% of employers admit they are less likely to promote a person with a disorganized work space.

How to Clean Up Your Desk

Reduce office clutter to increase productivity, efficiency and profitability

 

A few of my favorites for this practice are the following:

  • Handle information only once whether on paper or in your e-mail inbox. Make a decision as to whether it takes action or can be tossed or deleted. You will become more efficient and lower your stress levels.
  • Always organize your desk at the end of the day, so at least 80 percent of the desktop is visible. This will make going to work each morning a joy because desk stress and mental overload will decrease while your productivity increases.

 

Oh No! You’re A Traveling Salesman?

 

Just because you have a job that does not require you to work out of an office like us, don’t think you’re going to weasel your way out of this one.

 

If you don’t have a direct office cubical, first of all we envy you, secondly, this doesn’t mean that you can apply this week’s strategy to your Monday.

  • Whether you work out of your car, trailer, home office, boat, or whatever it may be – you can STILL benefit from de-cluttering/cleaning up your personal work-space
