How to Make Mondays NOT Suck is a strategic and sometimes satirical mini-series that will make your Mondays less ...sucky. So..How Do I Make THIS Monday Not Suck?!
Well let's talk about how great of a weekend we had! (If you didn't see us yesterday this video should sum it up:)

Moving on to today's Make Mondays NOT Suck Topic
Today, we're talking about an activity with mixed reviews. You either love it or hate it. I just so happen to be graced with the ability to do both at the same time.
(Shoutout to Laurie Penn., who quotes me as a young man moving from one house to another "It's okay to be happy and sad at the same time." - what can I say, I'm a very complex human being with an advanced set of emotional intelligence skills)
Today We're talking about.....
Crushing a Brisk, Early Morning Run
As mentioned before we've visited this topic of early morning grit in a previous Make Mondays NOT Suck series but we've recently taken a liking for this whole running thing and even more so when reading this column on the benefits of Winter Running:
ife is tough, and running outside in winter toughens you up. This is what renowned behavioral psychologist Dr. Albert Bandura described as a “performance accomplishment.” According to his self-efficacy theory: “determined effort can strengthen self-motivated persistence if one finds through experience that even the most difficult obstacles can be mastered by sustained effort.”
So with all these new insights, I decided I was going to challenge myself and get out there in this frigid, single digit degree morning in the midst of the calm before the storm..
Flashback to this morning shivering cold under my covers (I sleep with a fan on in the winter- go figure..) my phone vibrates off my nightstand until I silence it.
I turn over to see that my alarm clock reads 4:59 AM.
I bury my face deep in my pillow and scream several profanities.
I take a deep breath and spring out of bed (remember the key about Monday Mornings is momentum), Get up, take a deep breath, close my eyes and exhale. A popular mantra amongst hockey players of all levels, and ages: "Here we go boys", calling on all the cells in my body to endure the task we were about to embark upon.

I've gotta say, as exhausted and drained as I am from today's experiment #doitfortheblog, I've gotta admit that I absolutely love how my legs feel and basically my whole body is achy from the 6 miles I just crushed in the past 27 hours. I'm pumped, you're pumped.. let's go have a great week.
Strategies for Action:
- Get out there and hit the pavement!!
- It doesn't have to be running outside in the winter necessarily but this is an example of setting your mind to a task and following through on it.
